Crochet Classes
Crochet classes are offered on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Arranged by level:
Beginner Crochet
Learn the basics of crochet. You will learn the chain stitch, single crochet and half-double crochet. After this class, you will be able to make a simple scarf or afghan!
Time needed: 1 – 1 ½ hours
Fee: $15 per hour
Level: Beginner
Crochet for Knitters
A beginner’s crochet class especially for knitters! Learn how to add edges to your garments. Single crochet, reverse single crochet and picot stitch will be covered, as well as how to chain for a buttonhole. Homework is required for this class. Students will need to bring a 4x4 knitted swatch to practice their edgings.
Time needed: 1 – 1 ½ hours
Fee: $15 per hour
Level: Beginner (crochet), Advanced beginner (knitting)
Intro to Intermediate Crochet
Go beyond the basics of crochet with this class. Learn the half-double and treble crochet stitch, and how to increase and decrease. Practice reading patterns. After this class, you will be an Intermediate Crocheter!
Time needed: 1 – 1 ½ hours
Fee: $15 per hour
Level: Beginner
Advanced Crochet
Learn how to read crochet charts to make garments or lace patterns in your projects. Learn some special stitches as well, including fan and popcorn stitches.
Time needed: 1 – 1 ½ hours
Fee: $20 per hour
Level: Advanced
Tunisian Crochet
Tunisian crochet (or the Afghan Stitch) is a combination of knit and crochet. For this class you will need to know how to crochet, this is not a beginner crochet class.
Time needed: 1 ½ – 2 hours
Fee: $25
Level: Adventurous Intermediate to Advanced
Arranged by level:
- Beginner- You have never crocheted before, or have not crocheted in a long time.
- Intermediate- You know the basics- chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet. You also know some shaping techniques, and how to read a pattern.
- Advanced- You know how to do all of the above, and are ready for charts, special stitches, and garments.
