          Knitting classes

          Arranged by level:

          • Beginner- You have never knitted before, or have not knitted in a long time.
          • Advanced Beginner- You know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and some shaping.
          • Intermediate- You know how to do all of the above, various shaping techniques, and how to read a pattern.
          • Advanced- You know how to do all of the above, and how to use two or more colors as well as read complicated patterns and charts.

          Beginning Knitting
          You will be taught the long-tail cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch and cast off.  You can make a simple scarf or afghan after this class!

          Time needed: 2 Classes, 1 - 1 ½ hours each class
          Fee: $15/hr + materials.
          Level: Beginner

          Advanced Beginning Knitting
          This is a class that will encompass stitches beyond knit and purl. You will learn increasing and decreasing, how to yarn over, fix some mistakes, simple cables, and how to read simple patterns. You will be able to leave the workshop with the tools needed to complete a project. After this class, you can call yourself an Advanced Beginner! This class usually takes place over two separate lessons, one to learn how to cast on and knit and one to learn how to purl and bind off.

          Time needed: 1 - 1 ½ hours
          Fee:  $15/hr + materials.
          Level: Beginner

          Finishing
          Learn how to finish your projects like a pro! Learn the kitchener stitch, the mattress stitch, how to weave in ends invisibly. There will be homework for this class. Please bring two 4” swatches in a lightly colored worsted weight yarn, one on a stitch holder, and one on the needles. You will use these to practice your new skills!

          Time needed: 1 hour
          Fee: $15/hr
          Level: Advanced beginner

          Troubleshooting
          Learn how to fix your mistakes without tears! Learn to identify and fix the most common mistakes, such as dropped stitches and yarn overs, and how to pick up yarn after ripping out to your mistake. This class will require some homework. Please bring a 4 inch swatch of lightly colored worsted weight yarn, still on needles.

          Time needed: 1 – 1 ½ hours
          Fee: $15/hr
          Level: Advanced beginner

          Top-down Sweater
          Top down sweaters are a breeze! With no sewing required, they are ideal for your first sweater project. Pick from a variety of top-down sweater patterns.

          Time needed: 1 – 2 hours
          Fee: $15/hr
          Level: Advanced beginner to Intermediate (You will need to know how to read a pattern.)

          2 Socks on 2 Circulars
          Do you have Second Sock Syndrome? Do you have trouble completing the second sock of a set, or just want to make sure that both of your socks are exactly the same? Would you like to avoid using double pointed needles to make your socks? This is the class for you!


          Time needed
          : 2 classes, 1 ½ - 2 hours each class
          Fee:  $25 per class + materials
          Level: Intermediate

          2 Mittens on 2 Circulars
          In this class, you will learn how to knit 2 mittens simultaneously using 2 circular needles. A similar technique to two socks on two circulars.

          Time needed: 1 - 2 classes, 1 ½ - 2 hours total
          Fee:  $30 fee is due at the time of registration (non-refundable) + materialsLevel: Intermediate

          Double Knitting
          Learn how to make a reversible scarf without sewing up the side! Choose from several projects, including a polka-dot or plaid scarf, head bands and hats!

          Time needed: 1 – 2 hours
          Fee: $15/hr
          Level: Advanced

          Fair Isle Knitting
          Traditional Scandinavian colorwork. Learn how to use two colors at once for an all-over pattern, and read colorwork patterns. Choose from several projects.

          Time needed: 1 – 2 hours
          Fee: $15/hr
          Level: Advanced

          Intarsia Knitting
          Sectional bobbin colorwork. Learn how to use two colors to make blocks of color on a solid background, and how to read colorwork patterns. Choose from several projects
